It seems Elburon is going to have to wait for a while longer. Another world and more characters have entered into my mind and are demanding my attention. It is in the realms of pure fantasy, so it my kick my desire to work in Elburon again once I have gotten myself to the point of needing a break from it, but it’s only a short series (Four novels and three short stories) It I may actually be able to complete it by the end of the summer, the rough draft part anyway. I have been thinking about Lily and Alaric lately, and how to fix their story so that it’s sellable. It’s odd, everyone who writes say they do it for themselves, but, we still do have to appeal to the masses, or what’s the point? It’s true that I have to love my story and my characters, but doesn’t other need to so the story can be read? I don’t know. It’s something I will ponder for a while longer.
Bi-Monthly Update
This site is still in the creation phase, and I think to some extent, it always will be. Elburon was my first story and is the closest to my heart. I tend to liken a written manuscript to baring a child. Elburon is my oldest, and so, I have had made the most mistakes with it. Luckily, unlike with children, if the mistakes are too large, I can go back to the beginning and start writing it again. I have found that one of my niches in writing is romantic fantasy. I keep going back and forth about doing that with Elburon. I have paired everyone off, so it would seem to me an excellent idea, but then, I also love the fantasy genre as it is and I would love to see if I could make it a classic mainstay of the genre.
This novel is a labor of love. Inevitably I get back to it every year and work more on it. I am at the beginning of another series right now. It’s only four-months-old in the making. It has all of my writerly focus at the moment, but soon, I think it will be time for a break in the world of the Undying, and it will be time to get back to my beloved Elburon. I miss the world and the characters in it. I am egger to see what they have been doing while I was away.
Getting back into the swing of things.
It’s been a long time, but I have been working on another series. I’ve had a few major setbacks with this series, mainly because I think I have discovered that my writing nitch is Fantasy Romance, and not just fantasy. I will be reworking the plots and the characters over the next few months while I work on the Undying series. I love Elburon and all the characters I have created for it; I just have to figure out what I am going to do with it now. Maybe after the summer, I will be able to pick it back up again. I want to get this series written as soon as I can.
Didn’t write
Well, I think this is what we call a block, but not really, I don’t think. It’s more like not being able to focus, so maybe it’s writer’s version of ADD. I have a bizillion projects going on at once, and, everyone once in a while, all my characters start talking to at once, and then, I have no idea what to write. So, it might be best to just putter around for a while, and see what happens.
Greetings from Elburon
This is meant to be a log of my journey as I write an epic fantasy in the world I created called Elburon.
